Cockroaches pose a major threat to households, as they have the capacity to contaminate food and surfaces. Finding cockroaches in your home or business can be very distressing. Increases in eczema and asthma have even been linked to cockroach droppings.
Cockroaches are very tough insects and their ability to breed rapidly makes professional treatment essential to control any infestation. Only expert products and solutions are powerful enough to eliminate all stages of their lifecycle. If you have noticed an unpleasant, lingering odour under sinks, behind appliances or in store cupboards, it’s time to check for signs of cockroaches.
Once an infestation is established, cockroaches can spread quickly to neighbouring properties. This makes prompt action at the first signs of activity critical to enable fast and effective control.
Mosquitoes are infamous for spreading extremely dangerous diseases such as malaria, dengue, brain fever, cerebral malaria. Termites are known for the destruction they cause to wooden structures and furniture, Also known as “White-ants”. Owing to their wood-eating habits, many termites’ species can do great damage to unprotected building and other wooden structures. Their presence being undetected until the timbers are severely damaged and exhibits surface changes. Once termites have entered a building, they do not limit themselves to wood, they also damage paper, cloth, carpets and other cellulose materials.
Termites leave a mud path along the sides of the house which helps identify the problem instantly. Often woodborers (causing powdery residue in wooden furniture) are mistaken to be termite issues - they are different. A chemical barrier is created around the perimeter of the house through drilling every foot and injecting with a chemical, and a termiticide is sprayed when drilling is not possible. The process takes about 3-4 hours. An inspection may be required prior, but during the process there is no need to vacate the house. There is usually a long term guarantee on the drilling and injection process.
• Eradicate the collection of moisture by fixing pipes, A/C units, and other home fixtures prone to leaking.
• Ensure drainage sites remain clean and effective.
• Remove excess wood like tree stumps or yard debris.
• Monitor outdoor wooden structures for signs of infestation.
The majority of furniture in Indian households is made of wood or composites of wood. Wood-borer larvae or powder post beetle larvae are pests that can damage wooden structures and furniture. Wood Borer make tiny pinhead size holes on the wooden surface before flying out. The powder then begins to fall out from these tiny holes. This is the first sign of infestation in the furniture. There are several methods and options for control of wood borers (commonly known as wood worms). Selecting the best option depends on a number of factors, such as the gravity of infestation, the location of infestation, potential for re-infestation, and cost of treatment. Wood borers and Powder Post Beetles damage wood slowly so there is plenty of time to make a decision on control.
Bedbugs are small insects that live on the blood of animals or humans. Bedbugs do not fly, but they can move quickly over floors, walls, and ceilings. Female bedbugs may lay hundreds of eggs, each of which is about the size of a speck of dust, over a lifetime. Bedbugs may enter your home undetected through luggage, clothing, used beds and couches, and other items. Their flattened bodies make it possible for them to fit into tiny spaces. Bedbugs do not have nests like ants or bees, but tend to live in groups in hiding places. They are usually found around the bed where they have a ready source of food as the user settles to sleep. Bedbugs can, however, migrate to other parts of the room. Their initial hiding places are typically in mattresses, box springs, bed frames, and headboards where they have easy access to people to bite in the night.
Always carefully inspect antiques and any second-hand furniture before bringing them into your home.
Always wash and dry on high heat any second hand clothing or, when possible toys or other items before bringing them into your home.
When travelling, inspect the mattress and box spring you will be sleeping on. In addition to looking for the actual bed bugs, look for small brownish or reddish dots on the bed linens and mattresses. This is why most hotels use white sheets, if the hotels sheets are dark in color, this could be a red flag.
When travelling, do not put your luggage on the bed, this gives bed bugs a ride right into your. Use the metal luggage rack, which should also be kept away from not only the bed, but also the curtains, tables and wall hangings in the rooms. Don't forget to inspect your luggage when you return from trips before you bring them back into your home.
Vacuum at least once a week, pay special attention to areas around beds and furniture posts.
